The 130 year old Saint Sepulcher church in Nivelles, Belgium closed in 2019 due to structural issues that were not economically practical to repair. It was deconsecrated that same year. In February 2024 we purchased the furnishings with the hope of salvaging them and placing them in new homes in the USA.
This magnificent 11 foot tall Gothic revival baldachin/canopy is one of the furnishings. It dates to the construction of the Nivelles church circa 1890. It’s made from solid oak finished to a medium oak color. It’s in very good antique condition: three finials have broken off (see photos) but can easily be reattached, We will do that repair prior to shipping to a buyer. There is some staining on the floor (see photos). It is solid and sturdy-truly a quality piece. Note that the back surface is unfinished and flat for flush mounting to a wall. It will be partially disassembled for practical shipping. Dimensions: 130” tall, 51” wide and 34” deep. |
