I won this at a popular currency Auction with the following description: " Thomas Lipton (1848-1931) was a Scotsman and founder of Lipton Tea. Lipton was a merchant, a philanthropist and a yachtsman, who lost five straight America's Cup matches in 1899, 1901, 1903, 1920, and 1930. Lipton was inducted into the America's Cup Hall of Fame in 1993. A letter measuring approximately 8 by 10 inches is in this lot. Mr. Lipton's penned signature is bold. This letter to an American acquaintance, mentions an upcoming trans-Atlantic trip on the Aquitania with an arrival in New York City. " A watermarked is seen when held up to a light, looks like "Conan Extra Strong". One tiny edge split was found. No pinholes. |
