Good-Very Good overall antique cond: Fantastic! 2-color ink stamped & in 100% untouched, estate fresh antique cond. It features red & black ink stamped sidewalls, w/all 4 sides of the shipping crate being decorated w/western font style typography. This chosen typography was common on early mercantile advertising & especially on wood box advertising shipping crates. The box is quite scarce & highlights a previous time when soda bottlers were regional & found literally all over early to mid-20th c America, soon to be largely displaced by the much larger, corporate soda bottlers, such as Hires, Coca-Cola & Pepsi-Cola. The historic demise of these former soda bottlers is witnessed by the surviving wood box shipping crates, carrying the former, now defunct soda bottler's names & places of production, as w/this wonderful early 20th c antique Dr. Swett's orig root beer from Boston, MA. It features all wood construction, a 2 board wd plank floor in dry, matte, unvarnished surfaces. Excellent! |
