Fair-Good overall antique cond: For your review & consideration is this, although not in perfect condition, still very handsome & particularly early, c.1825-1855, early-mid 19th c American folk art, New England primitive, antique flame mahogany & figured maple hardwood one drawer sewing box, w/inlaid front sidewall holes for thread & upright wire mounts for wooden, wound thread spools. The sewing box features gothic corner columns, w/some minor maple hardwood loss on the L front column & more significant wood loss on the R front column. One white inlaid thread feed hole ringed collar's also missing. We've decided to leave the sewing box untouched & as it was when it was removed from the Boston, MA finely appointed estate it was taken from. The flame mahogany veneer's wonderful, w/variegated shots of dark & cherry wood colors. The figured maple hardwood also has some color fluctuation & still enjoys a rich, honeyed, naturally aged maple color & mellow, soft wood patina. Very nice. |
