Very Good-Excellent overall vint cond: Featured is this absolutely magnificent & incredibly clean, mid-20th c vint Swedish wheel-thrown & hand decorated, w/geo-abstract, angular floral motif, glazed ceramic tubular vase w/a fluted, rimmed top. It's clearly stamped w/a maker's mark on the baseplate 'Nittsjo, Sweden, Jerk Werkmaster.' The ext sidewalls of the vase are slightly ribbed & textured, much like similar Italian ceramic art pottery of the same post-WWII, Modernist period. The base semi-transparent olive glaze color is rich & is repeated, only darker on the angular, Art Deco-like angular figuration of the geo-abstract flora. The flora isn't obvious but is referenced by outward reaching wispy leaves as if reaching upwards like huge skylights, trained on the clouds. The angularity of the Art Deco period is strongly invoked & is undeniable, illustrating the strong links between the Art Deco & Modernist periods. The fluted rim is clean, as are the sidewalls. Great. An incredible vase |
