Perhaps being loc on Cape Cod & being virt surrounded by the Atlantic Ocean has determined much of the thematic content & focus of the Mass. based artist's lg body of work. Based in Falmouth, MA near the Cape Cod Canal & gateway to anyone wishing to travel anywhere on the Cape, Karen Rinaldo is intimately familiar w/the particular Cape Cod landscape all around her. This submersion in her chosen subject of the seacoast landscape, clearly contributes to the believability, verasity & strength of her works, lending credence to the expression 'nothing beats being there.' Her paintings, while being impressionistic, neo-realist in their tenor & clearly well handled & realized, creating believable atmosphere, architecture, shimmering water & sailing vessels are nevertheless very painterly.
