Good-Very Good overall antique cond: For sale is this rare, early 19th c, circa 1818, American leather bound vol. 'Practical System of Arithmetic, Schoolmaster's Assistant,' by Nathan Daboll & pub. by Russell Hubbard, Norwich, CT. The leather boards are mottled & resemble burled walnut. The spine's intact & is firmly attached to both leather sideboards. The edges of the spine show some scuffing & wear from previous use. The interior pages feature a single woodcut print titled 'Innocence & Sin,' no doubt a warning to young readers of the dangers of alcohol consumption & the vulnerability of youth. The rest of the volume has profuse mathematical charts & diagrams to assist the young pupil acquiring basic arithmetic & mathematics skills. Now 206 years old, this remarkably well-preserved bound educational volume is in terrific shape w/only the outside cover showing any real, noticeable, depreciating wear. There are no missing pages, paper loss, excessive foxing or tanning of the pgs. Nice. |
