Inscribed by Lewis to G. E. Sadler. Glenn E. Sadler was a graduate of Wheaton College where he got to know Clyde Kilby. In the sixties, when Kilby started working on the Lewis Collection that became the Wade Center, Sadler, who was living in England, was very helpful. A significant selection of his papers are held at the Wade Center. Title page is inscribed: "Dear Sadler / Here it is! / yours / C. S. Lewis" On the fly leaf is written "G. E. Sadler." Blue cloth boards with a black box at the top of the spine imitating a label. Author and title are printed in gilt against the black. 240 pp. Red dust wrapper with yellow and black text. The price is on the bottom of the wrapper flap and the top corner is clipped - apparently by the publisher. The same wrapper was printed for the British edition and the American edition with the British price on the lower part of the front flap and the American price on the upper.
